Solus* AP26
all-polymer internal boiler treatment
- Patented Boiler Terpolymer (BTP) provides efficient dispersion of hardness and iron
- Reduces the risk of boiler tube failures which can result from waterside deposition
- Enhances the rejection of iron, magnesium, and silica contaminants through blowdown resulting in cleaner boilers and improved heat transfer.
- Minimally susceptible to polymer hardness fouling
- Easily tested product tracer for convenient feed rate control.
- All the ingredients in Solus AP26 are approved for FDA 21CFR173.310 – boiler water additives for use in the preparation of steam that will contact food, up to a maximum level of 1282 ppm Solus AP26 in the boiler water. Solus AP26 is also approved as NSF-USDA G6.
description and use
Solus AP26 is a specially formulated, aqueous blend including the patented Boiler Terpolymer (BTP), the latest technological innovation in boiler deposit control from VEOLIA. BTP All Polymer technology is designed to provide excellent deposit control performance for modern steam boilers (up to 60 barg). BTP All Polymer treatments are cost effective and easy-to- apply.
BTP All Polymer internal boiler treatment programs, control deposition by several interactive mechanisms: complexation, crystal modification, and dispersion.
The first mechanism is complexation or solubilisation of feedwater contaminants reducing their deposition.
The second is crystal modification. The polymer interferes with the crystal growth of hardness and metallic oxide compounds. The charged functional groups of the polymer absorb onto the surface of the crystal nuclei, inhibiting the rate of crystal growth.
The final mechanism is dispersion. As the polymer adsorbs onto particles and boiler surfaces, it imparts a negative charge to both. The high concentration of similar charge on particles and boiler surfaces causes particles to repel each other and repulse them from boiler surfaces.
Boiler feedwater contaminants which have been solubilised and dispersed are then removed from the boiler through either continuous and/or bottom blowdown.
Overall, this results in a significantly reduced scaling potential and cleaner heat transfer surfaces, especially during upsets in feedwater hardness levels.
treatment and feeding requirements
Feed point – Solus AP26 can be fed to the hotwell, deaerator storage section or suction side of the boiler feedwater pump. If boiler feedwater is used for attemperation, high pressure dosing directly into the boiler steam drum or downstream of the attemperation take off point is required. In all situations, it is recommended to use a stainless steel injection quill.

Feed rate – The specific feed rate of Solus AP26 depends on boiler pressure, feedwater contaminant level, boiler cycles and operating conditions unique to your system. Your VEOLIA representative can determine the required feed rate after review of your system.
Dilution – Solus AP26 may be fed neat or diluted to any convenient strength with good quality condensate, demineralised water, or feedwater.
Equipment – Chemical feed should be through a 304 or 316 stainless steel injection quill.
