description and use
Spectrus BD1500 is a product based on surfactants specifically designed to assist in the control of microbial populations and biofilms in open evaporative cooling systems.
Biofilms can result in further fouling of equipment, under deposit and/or microbiologically induced corrosion of metals within the system.
Spectrus BD1500 “wets” biofilms improving the penetration of biocides into the biofilm. By penetrating into the biofilm, much more effective control of biofilm growth and removal of biofilms is achieved. This is particularly important in the case of halogens, which have poor penetration properties with respect to dense biofilms.
typical applications
Spectrus BD1500 may be used continuously, as part of the chemical treatment programme, to provide continual protection when used in conjunction with a continuous oxidising biocide programme. Used continuously it will also be present in the system to enhance intermittent biocide programmes. Alternatively, Spectrus BD1500 can be used on an intermittent basis, being shot dosed, as a biocide enhancer, prior to the injection of biocide.
treatment and feeding requirements
Proper treatment levels of Spectrus BD1500 depend on many factors, such as microbiological populations, nutrient concentration, and conditions particular to a given installation. The product should be used in accordance with control procedures that VEOLIA establishes for a specific application.
The product may be fed directly from the shipping container or storage tank to a point in the cooling system where it will be rapidly mixed with the bulk cooling water.

storage
