Internal Boiler Treatment

  • Minimizes corrosion
  • Improves boiler reliability
  • Suitable for FDA applications

Description and Use

OptiSperse HP3100 is an alkaline liquid blend of phosphate. The products’ buffering capacity is determined by its specific sodium to phosphate ratio.

OptiSperse HP3100 is used in boilers that are fed with high quality water such as demineralized, mixed bed, double pass RO, EDI and condensate.

A separate feed of an organic oxygen scavenger and neutralizing amine may be required to give a complete boiler water treatment program.

All the ingredients in OptiSperse HP3100 are listed in FDA 21CFR173.310 – boiler water additives for use in the preparation of steam that will contact food.

Typical Applications

Corrosion control in boilers utilizing high purity feedwater is normally achieved by operating a coordinated phosphate/pH program. OptiSperse HP3100 is a product with a specific sodium to phosphate ratio for such a treatment program. The product can also be supplemented with a synthetic polymer to control metal oxide deposition in the boiler water.

Treatment and Feeding Requirements

Feed point – OptiSperse HP3100 should be fed to the boiler drum. Alternatively, it may be fed to the boiler feedwater line after the attemperation spray water take off point.

Check with your local Veolia representative to determine the specific conditions in your system in order to define the optimum dosing point.

Feedrate – Sufficient OptiSperse HP3100 should be fed to maintain the recommended boiler water phosphate residual. The product is formulated for specific operating conditions. The feedrate depends upon operating pressure, heat transfer rate and feedwater quality.

Dilution – OptiSperse HP3100 can be fed neat or diluted to any convenient strength using demineralized water or condensate. When the product is fed direct to the boiler drum it must be diluted. Agitation should be provided.

Equipment – All chemical feeding equipment and feedlines should be of 304 or 316 stainless steel materials. To minimize packing and plunger problems, a diaphragm pump is recommended.
