- Significantly reduces sludge volume and associated handling costs
- Incorporates Veolia’s proprietary starch chemistry
Description and Use
KlarAid PC2712 is a low molecular weight, low charge, cationic coagulant, which includes Veolia’s proprietary cationic starch chemistry. It is designed to function in a total Veolia treatment program to remove colloidal and emulsified materials from industrial surface waters and wastewater. It also can remove some heavy metals from water.
In addition, KlarAid PC2712 effectively destabilizes oil-in- water emulsions, especially water-soluble oils, nonionic surfactants, glycols, and metal-working fluids. It eliminates or reduces the need for commodity inorganic coagulants, such as alum or ferric salts. It is effective in various types of separation equipment, including dissolved air flotation units, induced air flotation units, and API separators. Oily wastewaters from the steel, automotive, and hydrocarbon processing industries respond well to treatment with this product.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
KlarAid PC2712 is miscible in water and should be diluted to 10% or less with clean water for optimal product distribution. The product may also be applied neat (undiluted) to an area of high turbulence. For best results, KlarAid PC2712 should be applied at a point where vigorous agitation is ensured, such as the suction side of a water/wastewater pump.

Avoid using unlined steel and stainless-steel metallurgy and their alloys in selecting tanks and piping and for wetted surfaces of pumps to feed this product. Existing stainless- steel installations or fittings on tanks should be monitored closely and targeted for replacement within 6 to 12 months. Corrosion-resistant materials for construction, such as polyethylene, incalloy, and Hastelloy (Trademark of Haynes International), are recommended for storage and feed systems.
General Properties
Physical properties of KlarAid PC2712 are shown on the Safety Data Sheet, a copy of which is available on request.
Packaging Information
KlarAid PC2712 is a liquid product available in a variety of containers. Consult your Veolia representative for delivery and packaging alternatives.
Storage and Handling
Store KlarAid PC2712 at moderate temperatures of 40 to 90°F (4 to 32°C) and protect from freezing. If frozen, thaw and mix thoroughly prior to use.
Hard-pipe transfer lines and equipment associated with bulk storage tanks or semi-bulk, base-feed installations should be flushed thoroughly following product deliveries or transfers to minimize potential microbiological fouling of wetted surfaces. Precautions should also be taken to minimize excessive exposure to air or water sources of microbiological contaminants, which may promote increased biological activity in bulk or semi-bulk storage tanks.
