description and use
KlarAid* AMB1680 is a liquid, easy to handle, aqueous dispersion polymer. The product does not contain sur- factants or mineral oil based solvents, it has a low con- tent of volatile organic compounds (VOC).
KlarAid AMB1680 is very effective in applications where phase separation takes place by floatation. It can be ap- plied alone or combined with organic and inorganic co- agulants. It is very effective over a wide range of pH.
KlarAid AMB1680 can be used in sludge dewatering ap- plications, especially in belt filter press, plate and frame press, when the sludge contains hydrocarbons or hydrophobic compounds, by reducing the viscosity of the sludge.
treatment and feeding requirements
Prior to initial use, it is recommended to agitate KlarAid AMB1680 with a drum mixer or recirculating pump for 30 to 60 minutes to ensure homogeneity. Remix the pol- ymer for several minutes weekly thereafter.
Avoid water contamination caused by either condensa- tion or water droplets (such as rain) in open containers.
Water Technologies & Solutions fact sheet
KlarAid AMB1680 can be prepared by using a simple static mixer with in-line dilution or a batch system. To prepare stock solutions, first fill the solution prepa- ration tank approximately one-third full of water (suf- ficient to cover the agitator blade). Begin agitating and slowly add the premixed polymer to the solution tank, either through a disperser unit or directly into the vortex of the tank solution. Continue to fill the tank with water to obtain a 0.5% to 2.0% solution (max 5%). Continue to mix for an additional 10 to 20 minutes at low speed (350 rpm) until the solution is clear and homogeneous. Avoid high speed agitation because it may lead to degradation of the polymer. It is recommended to use solutions within same day of preparation, as diluted product will degrade.
Neat KlarAid AMB1680 can be handled with any ap- propriately sized gear or diaphragm pump suitable for viscosities up to approximately 2,500 cps. High density polyethylene and rigid PVC are satisfactory for tanks, tubing, piping, and pumps. Natural rubber, Buna N, and Teflon can be used for pump compo- nents and hose linings. Mild steel and copper should not be used. Contact your veolia representative if you need more information.
Stock solutions should be handled with the same ma- terials of construction. Positive displacement pumps, such as gear or piston pumps, can be used to meter the solution to the point of application.

packaging information
KlarAid AMB1680 is a liquid product, available in a vari-ety of containers. Consult your veolia representative for packaging and delivery options.
storage and handling
KlarAid AMB1680 should be stored at moderate tem- peratures of 4 to 32°C and protected from freezing. This polymer should also be protected from rapid or re- peated changes in temperature, which may lead to con- densation (gels) within the container. In case these gels are present they can be removed by filtering the prod- uct, as the gels can cause blockage of feeding systems.
To ensure maximum activity, this product should be used within six months.
Spilled polymer is very slippery, and precautions should be taken to avoid such spills. If a spill occurs, cover the polymer with an inert, absorbent material, sweep up the spill, and place it in a waste disposal container prior to flushing the area with water. The wet area may be slippery, so sand, grit, or another suitable material may be used to provide additional traction.
