description and use

Continuum AT4504 is a blend of inhibitors designed to control corrosion, scale formation and fouling, in an alkaline phosphate treatment program, within open evaporative cooling systems. Continuum AT4504 provides all the benefits of Continuum technology in a single product.

typical applications

Continuum AT4504 is a combined corrosion inhibitor, scale inhibitor and dispersant product for alkaline pH phosphate based programs. The product allows the application of inorganic and organic phosphates to promote the formation of a persistent protective oxide film on steel surfaces without the formation of calcium phosphate scale deposits.

Continuum AT4504 contains the new stress tolerant polymer (STP) designed for calcium phosphate scale control and particulate dispersion caused by suspended solids and inorganic scales, such as calcium carbonate. It provides unparalleled deposition control compared to conventional sulfonate-based polymeric dispersants. It is a superior dispersant for insoluble iron.

Continuum AT4504 contains the patented Halogen Resistant Azole (HRA). Unlike conventional azoles, HRA

is stable in the presence of halogens such as chlorine and bromine. HRA dramatically improves copper corrosion protection and drastically reduces copper discharge.

treatment and feeding requirements

Proper treatment levels of Continuum AT4504 depend on many factors, such as corrosion and scale potential, and conditions particular to a given installation. The product should be used in accordance with control procedures that VEOLIA establishes for a specific application.

The product may be fed directly from the shipping container or storage tank to a point in the cooling system where it will be rapidly mixed with the bulk cooling water.

For consistent protection, continuous feed is recommended. Feed of Continuum AT4504 is controlled by a simple and accurate orthophosphate test.
